University of Vice has quickly become one of my favorite labels over the last 5 years or so. The Poco Loco in the Coco series covers rock n roll flavored “exotica” and exotica flavored rock n roll. If you dug the goofier or “world music” moments of the Frolic Diner or Big Itch comps, this series is for you. There is a high novelty factor and like all exotica, cultural appropriation is in full effect. The sound quality is excellent throughout and considering the source material (78s and 45s from around the world, spanning the 50's and early 60's), it’s kind of amazing. (George)
